In the world of evidence-based training and nutrition you would be hard pressed to find two more experienced guys than Alan Aragon and Nick Tumminello. Not only are they constantly conducting or reviewing the latest research, but they are also known for distilling it down into easy to understand, practical information for the masses. You know, the type of bullshit-free advice and direction that the fitness industry needs in order to maintain integrity.
The Brolando Experience is a 2-day event that will give fitness and nutrition professionals 12 hours of face to face time with not only Nick and Alan, but also a group of like-minded peers who share the same vision of “being the change you wish to see.” Both days have multiple sessions that are designed to give attendees a new perspective on how to incorporate the art and science of training with sound nutrition coaching to create programs that deliver results for their clients. Whether you are a personal trainer, strength coach, or nutrition professional, this will be an event you won’t want to miss!
Also, it may be called “Brolando”, but that doesn’t mean it’s for men only. Women are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Alan Aragon is a nutrition researcher and educator with over 20 years of success in the field. He is known as one of the most influential figures in the fitness industry’s movement towards evidence-based information. His notable clients include Stone Cold Steve Austin, Derek Fisher, and Pete Sampras. Alan writes a monthly research review (AARR) providing cutting-edge theoretical and practical information. Alan’s work has been published in popular magazines as well as the peer-reviewed scientific literature. He co-authored Nutrient Timing Revisited, the most-viewed article in the history of the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. Alan maintains a private practice designing programs for recreational, Olympic, and professional athletes.
Nick Tumminello is the 2016 NSCA Personal Trainer of the Year and is known as the “Trainer of Trainers.” In addition to being an international speaker and educator, he is also the owner of Performance University and the former strength & conditioning coach for Team Ground Control MMA. Nick is the author of 2 books, Strength Training for Fat Loss and Building Muscle and Performance, and he also has authored over 15 DVDs and 200 articles. Nick trains a select group of clients and athletes and runs a mentorship program for fitness professionals in his hometown of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The best ability in training is the availability to do it in the first place. The fitness trainer and conditioning coach should not only train individuals towards their goals and needs, but do so in a way that allows individuals to continue training. This class will provide practical ways that fitness and conditioning professionals can take steps in order to effectively reduce the risk of clients and athletes suffering a training-related injury. This class will also address two strategies that are commonly believed by fitness and conditioning professionals to be “well-established” methods of reducing injury risk.

A popular approach in strength training is to mix up or “undulate” your sets and reps with each workout. When done right, this creates a well-rounded training program for muscle and performance. It’s an under appreciated truth of strength training that not every movement is ideally suited for every rep range.
In these workshops, Nick shows you how to pick the exercise variations that fit best with certain rep ranges, and how to cycle those rep ranges. It’s a unique program design technique that can give you a lifetime’s worth of workouts, help you increase your strength and build better, more comprehensive workouts by picking the right pressing and lower-body exercises for each training session.

Fad diets are a perpetual and pervasive part of the fitness industry. Many at face value seem to have plenty of research support, but in reality are standing on pseudoscientific legs. A working knowledge of how to spot fad diets and critically evaluate various claims is an extremely important skill, especially for fitness professionals. This lecture will dissect the most popular diet fads, and arm the learners with skills to separate marketing BS & well-meaning pseudoscience from scientifically sound information & practices..

Supplementation for improving body composition and performance is an exciting and ever-evolving frontier for fitness professionals. However, this realm is also a treacherous mix of hype and science, which makes it difficult to navigate and decipher what is safe and effective. This lecture will review the current research on supplements for increasing muscle size and strength, as well as supplements aimed at promoting fat loss. What’s new, what’s promising, what might be worth a try, what might be the next game-changer? A scientific approach will be taken to examine the latest findings in emerging areas such as carbohydrate periodization, ketogenic dieting, protein timing & distribution tactics, and intermittent fasting. Theory, limitations, and practical applications will be discussed.
11:00am – The Science of Flexible Dieting for Optimizing Body Composition (Lecture)
There are a multitude of dietary approaches, and all of them work to varying degrees for the purpose of weight or fat loss. However, the elusive yet crucial element of success on any diet is whether the individual is able to adhere to the diet long-term. To maximize adherence, the dietary approach must be tailored to the individual’s level of commitment and preference for more quantitative versus qualitative self-management. This lecture will review the current scientific literature on flexible versus rigid dieting, and provide practical applications toward implementing flexible dieting tactics for the goal of fat loss and muscle retention, and maintaining a favorable body composition.

Improving your training doesn’t always mean building a larger toolbox by adding new moves. It also means building a better one by learning how to more effectively use the exercises you already know. That’s what this workshop is all about – showing you how to get more out of every rep of exercise, from heavy lifts and power exercises, to isolation exercises and battling ropes.

Research shows that for safe and effective fat loss, you should watch your diet and focus on using metabolic strength training. One of the best methods for maximizing the metabolic demand of each strength training workout are metabolic complexes. In this workshop Nick will show you how to perform a variety of his top metabolic barbell complexes that you can immediately use to add a new challenge to your workouts and help your clients maximize fat loss and maintain muscle.

Arms are the original glutes. Everybody wants them to be stronger and better looking. The smarter your training, the more effective it is at achieving results. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to get more out of performing biceps and triceps exercises. Important biomechanical and physiological factors that you need to understand in order to avoid the commonly overlooked mistakes when performing these exercises will be highlighted, along with practical training techniques and tactics you can immediately use to improve your arm training.
